VOLUNTEER AT BEECH BROOK FARM EQUINE RESCUE

If you are interested in volunteering at the rescue, please contact us  at [email protected] or beechbrook[email protected]. You must be 18 or older to volunteer at the rescue due to insurance reasons.

Volunteers are critical to our operation and provide a valuable service that allows us to do our rescue work.

All volunteers that will work at the farm are required to complete 2 sessions  of volunteer Horse 101 orientation (first session)  and horse basics and behavior (second session)  prior to actually working at BBFER. Classes are scheduled approximately once a quarter for 2 Sundays for ~ 3 hours each Sunday followed by a 30 minute assessment so we can match your skills to our needs and also match you up with a mentor to further your equine learning.

OUR NEXT TRAINING SESSION STARTS Month/Day TBD, FROM 10-1. These sessions will introduce you to the farm, teach you how to work around horses, provide instruction on horse behavior etc. At the last session a proficiency assessment will be done and you will be assigned responsibilities based upon your proficiency. All volunteers will be paired with a mentor to provide for ongoing development of horse handling skills. The rescue will also provide occasional clinics for volunteers and staff to continue their equine learnings. Please email us at [email protected] to sign up for our next session.

We do have other volunteer needs: PR, marketing, fundraising, photography, graphics assisting with programs etc. Depending on the volunteer activity, if not working at the farm,  the Horse 101 classes may not be required although an orientation class covering important aspects of the rescue will be required.

If you are under 18 please contact our program coordinator at [email protected]ast.net  to see if we have  a youth program ongoing that may meet your needs (Refer to page on Programs).
